Programme Overview

Lower secondary
Sec 1 and 2 : Food Studies and Consumer studies
Students will be equipped with food management skills including culinary skills so that they will be self-sufficient in planning and preparing healthy meals. They will learn to be appreciative of the food from the different cultures in Singapore. In this module, they will also learn basic principles of consumer education to manage resources and understand consumer rights as well as responsibilities. Every student will be assigned a coursework task.

The Secondary 1 coursework task is on food studies and consumer education which includes planning and preparing a fusion dish. The Secondary 2 coursework is an investigative task on food science which includes planning and preparing healthy meals.

Upper Secondary
Sec 3, 4 and 5: Food and Nutrition
Students will acquire knowledge in nutrition, health, food science and food management skills. They will be required to do a coursework which develops in students the process skills of planning, execution and evaluation. Students will learn to think critically about issues on food, health and nutrition, approach problems with creative solutions and make sound judgements.
